LIVE updates on air pollution in Delhi, NCR: Delhi —Today, November 3, the NCR’s air quality continues to worsen, surpassing the “400” danger mark on a 500-point scale, with some locations seeing AQI readings that are concerning.

According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Anand Vihar station, Punjabi Bagh station, and Mundka station, to name a few, recorded AQI values in the “severe” category, which is above 400 AQI threshold. The scenario led to the closing of primary schools in the capital Friday night and a prohibition on non-essential building activities. Restrictions have been placed on petrol and diesel vehicles operating in and around Delhi due to the current circumstances.

A spike in farm fires combined with an anticipated dip in temperature and air speed might cause pollution levels in Delhi-NCR to deteriorate over the course of the next 15 to 20 days, according to additional warnings from government authorities. The national capital’s skyline was shrouded in a smoky haze on Thursday, and the scenario is predicted to persist for the next few days.

In some sites, the quantity of PM2.5 was 7–8 times higher than the acceptable limit of 60 micrograms per cubic metre, which can lead to respiratory and health issues.

Smoke from stubble burning accounted for 25% of the PM2.5 pollution in Delhi on November 2 and may reach as high as 35% today, according to Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune.
