BREAKING : NCERT committee recommends to change INDIA to BHARAT in all its textbooks

A panel from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has suggested that “India” be uniformly changed to “Bharat” in all school textbooks. According to the NCERT director, News18, it is currently only a recommendation and has not yet received clearance.

“At this time, we have not accepted anything. The panel sent their report, according to the NCERT director. The suggestion was made a few months ago.

This move comes as the Centre is facing criticism from the Opposition for changing the name of India to “Bharat” in official papers like invitations. The first instance of this was on an invitation sent to PM Modi by the ASEAN, referring to him as the “Prime Minister of Bharat.”

However, when Rashtrapati Bhawan sent out invites for a G20 luncheon on September 9 on behalf of the “President of Bharat,” the India-Bharat dispute picked up speed.

In the midst of this, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar claimed that the Constitution reflects the connotation of the word “Bharat.”
